Gclub and Friends Big Bend Backpacking trip.
April 2002 saw Gclub members and friends head to Big Bend in a Big way. We basically operated as 3 "individual" groups of Gclub members and friends. The first group was lead by Jacek and included 4 people. The Second group was lead by your host Michael and finally in our smallest group was lead by Roger. Our main goal was to enjoy the park, share good company and have a good time. The main activity is Intermediate back packing in the remote and dry Chisos mountains of Big Bend.

May 2002 Blue Hole/Guadelupe River float trip report.
Gclub likes to do the Guadalupe float about twice a year. It meets all our needs and wants : Friendly place, easy going weekend, laid back, swimming, fun, no cooking. We normally eat Breakfast, lunch and dinner out. May 2002 float was our first ever Majority Female event! Ladies welcome and come back!

We had 11 friends join us on this trip. James-VP of Base camp operations got a solid challenge from "Dave" the Quiet one on this trip. Dave arrived early to find us homeless and without camping location due to the popularity of the park during holidays. Fortunately, Cell phones, imagination and a little luck found us all nested in at Carson Creek by nights end. We ended up with a great camp site considering the overflow crowds.

Caddo Lake is Texas' only natural lake.

Gclub likes Caddo Lake. The area is lush with pines, cypress, moss, scenic waters. Caddo Lake is a World Heritage site and is protected. We try and do loop trips through the swamps. Fantastic day trips. B & B available for those who do not wish to camp.

Alternates: Town of Jefferson, 20 mins away has great antiques, shops, historic homes.

May 2000 Beginning Backpacking trip report Trip Photo's
This was the first www.gayoutdoorclub.org event. The trip started with a class room orientation followed by a weekend of mad dashing around scrambling for gear. Everyone mustered at the Park Cafe on Sat morning at 8am.

June , 2000 June 2000 Blue Hole/Guadelupe River float Gay Outdoor Clubs Blue Hole Campground and Guadalupe River float.. Annual Blue Hole Campground and Guadeloupe River Float. This is one of our most pleasant and EASIEST event of the year. We leave Dallas June 01 at various times via Car pool and end up in Wimberley , Texas at the Blue Hole Campground. The Blue Hole Campground has a 1.5 acre Artesian spring feed lake with wonderful cypress and picnic areas. The weekend is mostly water, swimming, floating, eating and drinking (if you like). Gruene Texas has the oldest dance hall in Texas and some great restaurants as well. There are shower and indoor toilet facilities at the campground. You don't need to bring a shovel.

Mineral Wells State Park Rock Climbing. We climb outdoors mostly Spring and Summer.
Rating: EASY! Bring
Picnic lunch have a great time.
We head to Mineral Wells State park for Rock climbing, easy days of picnics, laughing, joking and cheering brave souls onto the rocks. It's a lot of fun, NO ONE is every pressured, join us when we go, if you decide to climb Michael Railey will provide gear and safety instructions. Once you decide hey, this is fun, then come back, enjoy the days, and occasionally offer to assist with set up early mornings.
Look for Enchanted rock and Wichita Wildlife Refuge climbs this fall. They require planning, weekend camping however, wonderful climbs, great vistas.
